The Weather Channel Names Marke Zarrilli as International Vice President

The Weather Channel Companies have announced that Mike Zarrilli has been named vice president international.

In this newly created role, Zarrilli will be responsible for the overall strategic definition and management of The Weather Channel’s international digital businesses, with a particular focus on Western Europe, Asia and Latin America. In addition to these duties, he will also spend considerable time working to create global partnerships and strengthen relationships with mobile device manufacturers and carriers to build TWCC’s distribution outside the United States. Zarrilli reports to Cameron Clayton, executive vice president of digital products for TWCC.

“Mike’s experience working with our mobile and PC partners both domestically and internationally makes him the ideal person to lead our international expansion,” said Clayton.  Also, given that TWCC has the most comprehensive set of weather information worldwide, proprietary content in over 30 languages and a current base of millions of digital users around the world, Mike and his team will have a great foundation to grow our international business exponentially both organically and through M&A.”

Zarrilli has been with TWCC for 5 years and most recently served as senior director of mobile and digital distribution and business development.  This role focused on creating strategic partnerships and generating revenue across TWCC’s worldwide digital properties.  His most recent accomplishment includes a business partnership with Twitter to create The Weather Channel’s Social initiative, as well as multiple distribution and revenue generating deals during his tenure with major U.S. carriers, global portals, advertising clients and paid search providers.

Prior to joining TWCC, Zarrilli was director of content sales and business development with the CNN News Group and a financial analyst with Turner Entertainment Group. Earlier in his career he worked in finance and marketing based roles for Turner Entertainment Group, the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games and Merrill Lynch.

Zarrilli will continue to be based at TWCC’s Atlanta headquarters. A native of Trenton, NJ, he received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Villanova University and his MBA with a concentration in brand management from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University. He lives in Atlanta with his wife and two children.
