New Weather Presenter to Join Sky News Sunrise Team

Nazaneen GhaffarSky News today announced that Nazaneen Ghaffar will be joining the channel as its new weather presenter.

Nazaneen will share duties with fellow weather forecaster Isobel Lang on the channel’s daily breakfast show, Sunrise, presented by Eamonn Holmes, Charlotte Hawkins and Jacquie Beltrao.

It won’t be Nazaneen’s first encounter with Eamonn - when she was a teenager she queued up to meet him at a charity auction in her home town of Tunbridge Wells with her younger brother and asked him to say “hello” to her Mum on TV.

As the new edition to the Sky News weather team, Nazaneen will be presenting regular weather bulletins on Sky News’ 14 metre long news wall during Sunrise, on weekdays and weekend mornings, as well as recording weather updates for Sky News Active and the Sky News iPhone app.

Web users will also be able to follow Nazaneen on The Weathergirls blog on skynews.com, where she will be taking a closer look at the latest weather conditions affecting people and events across the UK and Ireland.

Commenting on her move to Sky News, Nazaneen said: “I can’t wait to join the team. Viewers can follow my blog and twitter feed @nazaneentv, as well as watching the TV forecasts.”

‘’I am fanatical about news, weather and fashion – so being signed up as a weather presenter to join Eamonn Holmes’ Sunrise programme on Sky News is pretty much a dream job,’’ she added.

Peter Lowe, Assistant Editor at Sky News said: “Nazaneen knows everything about the weather, but she also has lots of personality and energy. I’m sure she’ll be a big hit with our viewers.”

Nazaneen has been presenting weather for both ITV and BBC for almost four years after being trained at the Met Office. She was interested in news and weather from a very young age and used to present news and forecasts to her parents by reading Ceefax out loud to her parents from the TV screen.

Nazaneen, who was once dragged up on stage by Robbie Williams to sing with him, is also passionate about fashion. “I even have a cat named after the designer MIU MIU,’’ confessed Nazaneen. She also loves food, music and pub quizzes. She will be presenting the weather on Sky News from 8 November.
