During the week, "Nightly" saw 7.422 million total viewers, +910,000 more than ABC "World News,’" 6.512 million and +2.528 million more than CBS "Evening News’ 4.894 million. On Wednesday, Nightly News beat World News by +1.252 million viewers, the biggest single day advantage since July 12, 2010. NBC was the only U.S. broadcast network reporting live from Iraq as the last American combat troops exited the country Wednesday evening. Season-to-date, Nightly leads World News by +1.010 million total viewers.
Last week, Nightly also led in the key demo adults 25-54. Nightly delivered a 1.7 rating A25-54, ahead of World News’ 1.4 and Evening News’ 1.2. With 2.155 million A25-54 (000) viewers last week, the newscast beat World News by +395,000 viewers. Season-to-date, Nightly leads World News by +432,000 A25-54 viewers. This is the 91st consecutive week Nightly has topped World News in this key demo.
As the number one network broadcast last week, Nightly News delivered a 5.0/11 Household rating, with World News in second place with a 4.5/10, and Evening News in third with a 3.3/7.
On its digital platforms, "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" continued its strong performance with more than 2.9 million online streams for the week ending August 21, 2010.
