France 24 Obtains License to Broadcast in India

France 24 has obtained its license to broadcast throughout India from the Indian Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on December 3rd.
As it brings together nearly 140 million televised households, or one in five households in the Asia-Pacific region, and already more than 600 million mobile subscriptions, India is a key market for France 24 for both broadcast distribution agreements as well as multimedia services offer.
Obtaining this license is the first step towards the implementation of France 24 and now allows the channel to be referenced by the major pay-TV broadcasters (Dish, Tata Airtel or Big) and Indian hotels.

The opportunities offered by India are incredible and we look forward to being able to deploy all our efforts there", indicated Philippe Rouxel, Vice President Worldwide Distribution of France 24.
Available free to air on Asiasat 5, France 24 already has access to almost 3 million TV households in Asia, with key carriage agreements concluded with major Asian cable networks, DTH and IPTV platforms in Thailand, Hong-Kong, Macau, Philippines, Vietnam, Australia and Indonesia.
France 24 is currently available to 145 million TV households worldwide, doubling its global coverage in four years.
