Owen Thomas Joins Bloomberg Television as London-based AnchorBloomberg Television has announced that Owen Thomas has joined its London bureau as anchor.

Thomas will serve as the co-host of "Countdown", part of Bloomberg Television's global programming at the start of the European business day.   

The show is a fast-paced run-up to the opening of the European markets, with in-depth interviews and analysis of what is happening and why. Owen’s “Countdown” schedule runs from 6am-7am BST co-hosted with Linzie Janis, then from 7am-8am with Francine Lacqua. The show airs live from Bloomberg’s pioneering broadcasting hub in London where presenters walk and talk beyond the studio around the newsroom, bringing in interactive technology in a fresh and dynamic show.

Accessible via live webstream at www.bloomberg.com/tv/ and on Bloomberg Television's global news channel, “Countdown” is available to more than 270 million homes worldwide. 

Thomas, who joins Bloomberg from BBC World News, brings extensive experience in covering business news, politics and world events.  He previously reported on international and business news for BBC World News, the BBC News Channel and BBC1's "Breakfast."  Among other stories, Thomas covered the European credit crisis, the banking industry and financial regulation in the U.K.  He has interviewed numerous business and political leaders including former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Anglo American's CEO Cynthia Carroll and Nobel Prize winning economist Joseph Stiglitz.

Prior to joining the BBC, Thomas was an anchor on CNN International, presenting on such programs as "CNN Today," "CNN World News" and "Business International."  Before that, he served as an anchor and reporter at ITN, where he presented for the "ITV Morning News," "London Tonight" and the ITV News Channel.  Thomas began his career as a presenter for the English-language service of Radio France Internationale, based in Paris. He received a degree in French and International Business from Aston University.  He speaks fluent French.
