News on News Exclusive

On the first edition of News on News' new podcast series, Media Critique, Bloomberg Television's Market Desk reporter based in London, Manus Cranny exclusively talks about the future for Bloomberg Television and his media career so far.

Amongst the subjects discussed, Manus gave an insight into his career before he joined CNBC at the start of the millenium, and his position as head of sales and media at some of the City's top names before returning to television screens as a markets desk reporter at Bloomberg Television in london.

On his job at Bloomberg, Manus said; "that entails covering basically every story that is moving on a daily basis, whether that's equities, bonds, foreign exchange, and whether there's a political slant.  So you come in and see what's been happening in Asia overnight and in the United States and very much looking ahead to the agenda in Europe and really trying to choose the stories that viewers will have an interest in."

Manus on the sovereign debt crisis in Europe; "I think we can be really frank about it, and say that there only has been one news agenda this year and that is Europe, but the possibility of contagion, so never far from our minds are the sweep of issues going on in Europe, and these are the real underbelly issues of 2010."
