Hans Nichols is White House correspondent for Bloomberg Television, focusing on foreign affairs and the international economy.
Based in Washington D.C., Nichols has interviewed numerous political figures and government officials, as well as past and present heads of state.
Nichols broke the news of White House OMB Director Peter Orszag's departure from the Obama administration, covered the Bush White House and travelled with President Obama to Iraq and Afghanistan.
2008, Nichols covered the presidential campaign of Senator John McCain for Bloomberg News. His additional interviews from the trail included Democratic candidate Barack Obama and Republican vice-presidential candidate Governor Sarah Palin.
In addition to Bloomberg News, Nichols’s reporting has appeared globally in publications such as The New Republic, The Los Angeles Times, The Financial Times and The Telegraph. Before joining Bloomberg, he was a writer for Congressional newspaper The Hill.
Nichols graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University with a bachelor’s degree in government. He received a master’s degree in political theory from the London School of Economics.
Nichols was a Fulbright Scholar in international justice in Sierra Leone in 2005. He secured the first interview with Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf after her inauguration as Africa's first female head of state in 2006.
