Bloomberg Television is continuing its agressive high profile recruitment drive, by hiring two of Europe's most widely regarded news people. Andrea Catherwood will join Bloomberg Television as a flagship presenter. She is a former Independent Television News (ITN) foreign reporter, and more recently a newsreader for ITV. A seasoned reporter, she spent years covering the wars in the Balkans, being posted in Kosovo and Albania. She is also widely regarded for her coverage of the Northern Ireland troubles.
At ITV, she presented the 'The Sunday Show', the networks weekly political programme, and is known to the BBC's news and sport radio station, Five Live, as a contributor.
Bloomberg Television's head of broadcast for EMEA, Brian Martinez, told the UK's Guardian newspaper;
"Andrea will be joining as one of our presenting team as we expand our European production. Her background gives her exactly the type of knowledge we're hoping to bring our viewers.
"She'll be joining within the next couple of weeks and is part of a global roster of anchors. She's becoming part of our premier global reporting team."
Alongside Catherwood, Bloomberg has also hired Steve Clark, a former senior executive at ITN and Sky News. He has more recently been credited as being one of the influential people behind Al Jazeera's english language channel. Clark joins Bloomberg as head of production and programming in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
